* the fact that they have sticked together through thick and thin since they were little boys and refuses to replace the missing (well, pronounced dead but never found) Richey Edwards. for facts, theories and responses from Nick, Sean and James on this...google it! or, well...James talks a bit here: How could he do this to us?
* their socialist / coummunist / left stance in politics. never afraid to say where they stand politically, flippin the finger at the right wingers, facists, racists and pro-war governments.
MSP did take legal action against the EDL after they used the song 'If you tolerate this your children will be next' in an ad campaign. the song was originally written by MSP from an anti-fascist p.o.v., with the slogan borrowed from the Spanish civil war. i.e. Fuck Franco!

* their recognition and 'thank you's' to all the bands, philosophers, writers, leaders, politicians and other people who have inspired them during their career, and before.
* their, in the early days but to an amount still, cockiness and refusal to back down when being critizised for being themselves and thinking what they think.
* the fact that they are the first Western world rock band to ever play in Cuba (in the Karl Marx theatre) and sitting down to talk with Castro, all recorded and released on the DVD 'Louder Than War'.
* their stance on education and knowledge...which is power. duuuh! romance in pop culture and pop music is beaten to death and exhausting so the, mostly, lack of this kind of lyrics and quotes is a fresh breath.
* their usage of make up, women's clothing, transvestite, homoerotic, feminist usage / p.o.v. all in various states during their career. (this being a pretty clear message that it's ok to be whomever you want to be and are, no matter of gender, sexuality, what you prefer to wear and the slamming of gender roles per se.
* the fact that you pretty much need a political-history degree to understand them.
'Since The Clash, nobody has ever offered such controversial and daring political statements through rock music, and moreover done it so consistently that it can’t really be ignored. It’s difficult to listen to a Manics set without hearing anything about the evils of Fascism or the corruption of US Government- which what makes the band indispensable to popular culture.' (...)
'Whether it’s the dark dystopia of The Holy Bible or the Guns n Roses-esque Generation Terrorists, the Manics are a band loaded with political knowledge and opinion and without knowing about the material covered, it’s hard to really get into them.'
* atheism. God is Dead. MSP and Nietzsche
* working class heroes!
....and this was just some love-points from me. the list could go on. like...forever. but i guess no one gives a shit about this, really. the focus is on Richey, really. mostly the love between Richey and Nicky, so what the heck...go ahead. watch, listen. it's what you want, yes?
so you like Comminism then? They destroyes America!
